Bruce Widmer
Bruce Widmer was elected to the Wells Rural Electric Board in 2008.
Director Widmer was born and grew up in Wells. He graduated from Wells High School in 1968. He served in the U. S. Army in the Viet Nam era.
Bruce’s working career began in 1979 when he joined his hometown coop as an apprentice lineman. He became a journeyman lineman in 1983 and worked as a lineman in Wells and Carlin for 20 years.
In 2000 he moved to Montana and returned to Wells in 2006. He took a lineman position with Western Line Builders where he has worked from 2006 until the present.
Bruce married Judy in 1996. Together they have five children: Travis, Pete, Shanien, Abby and Crystal. Bruce adds, “We are blessed with 11 grandchildren.”
“I’m pleased to serve as a director on the WREC Board. I think the board does a great job and I ran for the board because I wanted to be a part of this successful company. I can appreciate WREC from a unique context since I worked for this company most of my working career,” Bruce says.
In the months that he has served as a director, Bruce has had the opportunity to see the company from another perspective. Bruce says, “I am realizing that power issues are much more complex than I had imagined. In today’s economy WREC is fighting for REA membership rights, for low energy costs and reliable service for our customers.”
