Scott Egbert, Vice President

Scott Egbert, Vice President

Scott Egbert serves as Vice-President of the Wells Rural Electric Board of Directors. He has served on the board for almost four years and achieved his Certified Credentialed Directorship in three years through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

Having grown up on a ranch in Metropolis, Scott is a life long resident of the Wells area. He married Laurel Sorensen in 1981 and they are the parents of five children. Spencer and Katelin are attending college at Southern Virginia University. Calli, Lindsey and Farnes are still living at home. The Egberts live on the KC Ranch in Clover Valley.

Scott is interested in new ideas, technology and renewable energy. Having been told several times that a micro hydro wouldn’t work in this area was just the challenge
Scott needed to try it. He planned and prepared for years trying to envision all scenarios that might keep the project from working. He now has the only privately owned hydro in the WREC system.

Renewable energy is going to be an important part of our future. Even if it isn’t the most efficient or cost effective, at some point in time WREC will be pushed toward purchasing a certain amount of it.

Scott has always had an interest in electricity and the electrical industry. These interests have led him to run for and serve on the board. In the near future are the possibilities of some major changes in the electric industry and staying on top of these is a challenge he enjoys. He looks forward to the growth in Wendover, Carlin, & Wells and meeting their changing needs, not only with electricity but other needed services. The other outlying areas bring even different challenges with their different needs, which are just as exciting.

Scott has learned that at WREC the coop principle that every member has ownership is real. Every decision made by the Board is based around what is best for the members as a whole. This is taken very seriously. We have a very dedicated and well educated board on which Scott loves to serve.
