Lois Nannini, Secretary
Lois Nannini is secretary of the WREC Board of Directors. She is a resident of Wells, and has been a director for 21 years. Lois is a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Certified Credentialed Director. This certification is required of all WREC directors, as increasingly financial institutions that deal with electric cooperatives require educated directors.
“I’m so proud to be a member of WREC. The initial concept that brought REA power to the extended community was so powerful. The original WREC Board provided a benefit to WREC members’ that becomes greater and more meaningful with each passing year. If one looks only at the benefit that low power prices brought to Newmont Gold, then we realize that WREC has brought prosperity to Elko County,” Lois says.
“As a director I’m proud that WREC has kept power prices as reasonable as possible. Our relationship with Bonneville Power and its hydroelectric capability has served us very well,” Lois says.
Her goals for WREC include keeping power rates as low as possible, and keeping the professional quality of the staff. As a director I want to do what I can to promote the well-being of the entire WREC organization,” Lois says.
Lois says that that much of WREC’s success belongs to the employees.
“The staff works as team to bring effective service to WREC members. From the office staff to the linemen, the employees extend themselves into the communities. They use their talents and resources to make each of the service areas better places to live.”
Lois says that she is so pleased that WREC has “afforded the opportunity to keep some of our fabulous children in the community”.
Lois says her major goal as a WREC Director is to maintain the core strength of the original board. “I want to see WREC continue to be a major positive force in Northeastern Nevada.”
Lois and her Elko County Commissioner husband, Mike, have been married 30 years. The Nanninis are the parents of five children and they delight in their four grandsons.
Lois and Mike owned a Coldwell Banker Realtor Franchise in Elko for 14 years. Lois built the business into a successful company and then sold it 2 years ago to allow herself more time for other interests.
