Gerald Anderson
Is proud of his 13 years of service on Wells Rural Electric Company’s Board of Directors, Gerald Anderson remembers his initial run for the board. “I fell short by a few votes”, Jerry says. “Then I was appointed by the Board of Directors to fill the completion of a term in the absence of an existing board member.”
Voters have expressed continued confidence in Jerry’s dedication and ability.
Jerry says he achieved a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Certified Credential within his first two years on the board.
He has also earned a Leadership Certificate and a Certified Credentialed Directorship Certificate. “I appreciate the great educational opportunity afforded me by WREC and NRECA.”
Jerry and his wife Nancy moved to West Wendover from Portland, Oregon in 1983. “We moved to Wendover for job opportunity with the Stateline Hotel Casino. Currently Jerry is in management at the Montego Bay Casino Resort in West Wendover,” Jerry says. “Nancy and I have spent 22 years in the area and have enjoyed every one of those years.
Jerry was born and reared in a rural area east of Portland, Oregon. “In the early 1940’s, the BPA cut right through part of our farm. My father went to work for the BPA, logging and clearing for the power lines in the area,” Jerry says. “Needless to say, we were excited when electricity came right to our farm. I was raised with the cooperative concept. My family belonged to dairy and grain cooperatives. I know how important the coops were to the member owners,” Jerry says.
“Nancy and I are blessed with five wonderful children, and they in turn have blessed us with 14 exceptional grandchildren.” Jerry says he looks forward to continuing his service to the WREC membership as a director. “I feel there is a crucial time in the near future to work with power supply and to ensure legislation that will continue to protect and serve the cooperative way of life for our fellow member owners.”
“ I am pleased to represent every WREC member throughout the service area, and I’m excited about the whole membership’s future,” Jerry says.
“ We must continue our efforts to bring our member owners the most affordable and reliable service possible,” Jerry adds. “The Board of Directors and the employees of WREC have worked hard to achieve those goals, and I feel confident that this attitude will continue to prevail for the future.”
He adds, “The growth and success of WREC can be directly attributed to the dedication, due diligence and continued education of the whole organization beginning with the company employees, the Board of Directors and the member owners.”
